Wind Minds supports MHI Vestas Offshore Wind with German offshore market entry
Wind Minds was selected by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind (MVOW) to provide regulatory support for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 turbine supply tender. It is the first German project that selected the advanced V164-8MW wind turbine.
Wind Minds began the work on the project in February 2015, providing experts to the MVOW tender team and supporting MVOW during the negotiations with Dong Energy culminating in the signing of the wind turbine delivery and service contract on Monday 24th of August.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 has an awarded grid capacity of 450MW and is located in the North Sea, approximately 57km off the north-west coast of Germany. The offshore wind farm will be able to cover the consumption of 460,000 German households and is located next to the 312MW Borkum Riffgrund 1 Offshore Wind Farm which will become fully operational later this year.
Wind Minds co-founder Heinrich Duden said “We are delighted to have been asked by MVOW to provide regulatory support and to have been involved with the introduction of high end technology to the market. We believe that our extensive experience in the offshore wind market put us in a strong position to support MVOW with the German offshore market entry. It was a pleasure to work with MVOW and I look forward to continuing our involvement.”
