From February 23rd to 27th, Arno Verbeek and Eric Kamphues from Wind Minds participated in the Smart Energy Week 2015 in Tokyo, supported by local liaison/representative Justus Schoemaker.
For Wind Minds and several partners from the Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE), the week was kicked off with a dinner hosted by the Dutch ambassador at his residence in Tokyo. A select group of high level Japanese officials and Japanese wind power industry leaders were also invited.
The following days, the Dutch delegates promoted their businesses at the Holland Pavilion at the Wind Expo 2015. Additionally, a seminar and workshop were organized by HHWE where Wind Minds and other participants shared experiences on offshore wind development, infrastructure and O&M logistics, which are big challenges for the newly emerging Japanese offshore wind industry.
The Smart Energy Week showed much work is still to be done for the Japanese offshore wind industry to mature properly, however the country is determined and seems diligent on course, and Wind Minds shall make its knowledge and experience available to support this emerging market.
