External safety refers to the impact of the wind turbine on the safety of the surrounding area. We distinguish risks for people (external safety) and risks for the supply reliability of pipelines and power lines, for instance. Wind Minds carries out calculations and analysis in order to assess these risks.
This enables us to quickly determine if an extensive QRA (Quantitative Risk Analysis) is required. The calculations are based on the ‘Wind Turbines Risk Zoning Manual’, which translates the rules for safety into distances to be observed between wind turbines and objects such as houses, industrial buildings, pipelines, power lines and roads. The distance to be observed depends on the type of turbine and the type of object.
We offer three products in the field of external safety:
During this scan, we identify the potential safety risks that may occur during the development of the project. By engaging our expertise at an early stage, you gain clarity and an insight into the steps to be taken and any risks may be resolved quickly.
Impact probability analysis
During this scan, we map out the probability of nearby objects being hit. We will contact the owners of the objects in question and on the basis of the analysis we will look into detail at the risks assessment and appropriate solutions.
Pondera Consult has extensive experience contacting owners of infrastructures and the relevant authorities about risk assessments. We use our knowledge and experience by notifying you at an early stage about anticipated bottlenecks, enabling you to take adequate action. Through active communication with the parties involved, we also try to secure a win-win situation for the development of your project.
