Wind in Taiwan
Taiwan has abundant wind power resources, and the number of installed turbines is growing fast. In 2017, the installed capacity was almost 700 MW, up from 186MW just 10 years ago. Taiwan currently only has one offshore wind park, but the Ministry of Economic Affairs has awarded almost 4 Gigawatts of grid capacity to eleven additional offshore wind projects.
Moreover, at the expo, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is promoting WindForce 12, a global industry blueprint that aims to enable 1,250 GW of wind power installed worldwide by 2020 -supplying 12 % of the world’s electricity. Wind Minds – a full scope service provider for offshore wind energy projects – is determined to help reach this goal and achieve the much needed global energy transition.
